Please, please, bring your best sweet pea blooms (and even a few wonky ones) along to St Anne’s Church, Strathpeffer, between 12pm and 4.30pm on Friday 15 August.
You may find a ‘winner’s certificate’ beside them during Strathpeffer’s Open Gardens weekend (16 and 17 August 2025).
Something like this:
There will be two sweet pea categories – single colour and multiple colours (and a wooden spoon category for the wiggliest stem!)
Entries (limited to one per person per category) should comprise 9 stems in a clear glass jar. NB You need only submit one stem for the wiggly category!
Judging will take place after 5.30pm that day and all entries will remain on display over the open gardens weekend.
This is just a fun event, so there are no cash prizes, just a little keepsake for the winners, and the kudos of being first, second or third in your category.
Entries will be judged by Pamela Sutherland, head gardener at Inverness Botanical Garden, and Morven MacDonald, curator of the Museum of Childhood.
The usual things – colour, firmness, straightness, lack of blemishes, basically, do they look fab-u-lous!
Please do enter – we hope it will add to the spectacle and enjoyment of the whole event.
