Thanks to Sarah Smyth from NatureScot we recently learned some important info about how to protect our native plants and wildlife in our gardens – and here we’re passing it on.
If you’d like to know more about how to garden responsibly you can check out the ‘Be Plantwise’ campaign which includes species which should not be composted, and lists of alternative species.
Some plants you really don’t want to encourage – you can find a list here. It highlights species of special concern – the real nasties – these should not be sold, swapped or grown.
And here are plants that if you spot growing in the wild, you should report (to NatureScot)
Here are details of the pollinator award from Keep Scotland Beautiful. Could Strathpeffer be next?
FIT counts - https://ukpoms.org.uk/fit-counts lovely way to contribute to citizen science projects whilst enjoying the fruits of your labour …. Or justifying a nice rest in the sunshine!
Thank you so much Sarah!
